Enter At Your Own Risk

16”x16”• mixed media on wood
2019

I’m not sure if it’s the black-and-white aspect of this painting that simplified the way I approached it, but when I was done and stood back to look at this symphony of chaos I had created, I realized that it was truly a visual schematic of how my brain works…. and it’s crazy in there. That’s how the title was born, which not only applies to the fun house aspect of the painting but also to my brain. Because of my innate acuity and obsessive desire to create controlled chaos, entering into the depths of my mind should be done at your own risk! What I love about my process is that even though it can appear to be an explosion of randomness, every single element was carefully chosen and placed with thoughtful consideration for the overall theme and visual balance. And all this supposed nothingness becomes something in the end. How I got there was just as much a wild ride as how I hope you’ll interpret the piece in its finished state.
