Inspired by "chuck" and the meat cut diagrams, this painting became whimsical play on names and words and the societal perceptions of dating "beefy" men, from the view of either sex. I wanted to do a painting that had all men’s names, as a kind of play on the chart and the dating world. Hence the “All American” and “Prime Beef Cake” references. The upside-down cow came about because I needed to fill that space to create visual balance and a second, upturned heifer was more whimsical than right-side-up. So to justify that I thought “head over heels” as in love, and gave it the Topsy Turvy brand name. Lots of surprise layers in this one as well as some unique collage elements hidden within.
